About the film

The Great Sage Rises: A Journey Through the Demon Realm is the only officially licensed XR work based on The Great Sage Rises, the animated film scheduled for release during the 2026 summer season. Set after the Great Sage completed his pilgrimage and attained Buddhahood, the story unfolds as the demons are trapped and calamity draws near. Taking on the role of an “outsider from beyond the mountain,” audiences will enter the world of the ten thousand demons. Guided by the “second-generation flower” Monkey Xiaokong and Taofufu, they will experience the bustling splendor of Ten Thousand Demons Town firsthand and witness the Great Sage’s blazing battle that will rewrite the fate of all demons.
