About the film

The Rise of the Great Sage: Journey Through the Realm of Ten Thousand Demons is the only officially licensed XR work based on The Rise of the Great Sage, an animated film scheduled for release during the 2026 summer season. Set after the Great Sage has attained Buddhahood upon completing his pilgrimage, the story unfolds as demons are trapped and calamity draws near. Taking on the role of “one from beyond the mountains,” audiences will venture into the world of ten thousand demons. Guided by “second-generation flower” characters Monkey Xiaokong and Taofufu, they will experience the bustling splendor of Ten Thousand Demons Town firsthand and witness the fiery battle in which the Great Sage fights to rewrite the fate of all demons. This is a perception-defying, ultra-sensory journey into the world of Journey to the West—and a milestone fusion of a classic Chinese IP with cutting-edge XR technology.
